Karen has over 20 years’ experience as a teacher and subject leader of Religious Education in schools in Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Coventry. She has also held roles including pastoral lead, teacher of A-level Sociology, and PSHE and Citizenship co-ordinator. In addition, Karen was a regional RE advisor, working across phases and supporting local SACREs. She also led a Return to Teach programme in Warwickshire.

Karen began her teaching career with a BA in Religious Studies from the University of Newcastle and a PGCE in Religious Education from the University of Warwick. While working in a school, she gained her MA in Religious Education at Warwick, exploring the relationship between Religious and Citizenship education. Karen is a Farmington Fellow and a member of the National Association of RE Teachers’ executive body. She is also a member of Warwickshire SACRE.
